Styling your Getting Ready Photos
Share
Your wedding morning is filled with giggles, butterflies and champagne toasts and all your photos should reflect those magical moments. Whether you’re surrounded by your bridesmaids or soaking in the moments quietly solo. Your wedding morning is such a special moment. It’s important to take the time and soak up all the love and laughter that comes with getting ready for your big day. Here are some of our favorite tips for wedding day photos and making your getting ready photos truly unforgettable.
Choosing the Right Outfit
Starting with the star of the show: your bridal robe! A beautiful robe can really set the tone for your photos and make you feel the like the true main character you are! Let the outfit show your personality, make it reflect how you are and find the right outfit for you. Maybe go for something soft, elegant and flattering or maybe something fun and dramatic. It’s important to have your bridal robe or pajamas reflect your personal style. We always suggest maybe adding a little touch of lace, sparkle or feathers!
Lighting is Everything
Natural lighting is totally key. Find a window with a soft, indirect sunlight. Something that shows off the morning glow to really capture the photo magic. Ask your photographer to position you near the light source for the dreamy and glowing effect.
The Perfect Backdrop
Background is just as important as everything else. Make sure you clear away any and all clutter. Removing any water bottles, makeup bags, hangers and cellphones. A clean, simple background (like a made bed, armchair or even a neutral wall) keeps the focus on you. Try hanging your wedding dress nearby for a photo backdrop.
Props and Accessories
Props can add so much personality and movement to your shots. When getting ready for the day think about getting champagne flutes, vintage mirrors, hand written notes or even a mini bouquet. We also love when brides have a beautiful mannequin to display their dress; it is always such a gorgeous touch.
Candid Moments
Some of the absolute best photos come from getting ready moments that are real and authentic. Laugh with your girls, sipping some coffee or even champagne (we always tend to choose champagne) or peeking at your dress. Some of our favorite photos are a little dress reveal with your friends or moments of you putting on your jewelry or getting your hair and makeup done. Don’t be afraid to be you and just ignore the camera and live in the moment with your besties! Our biggest tip is to have fun music playing on in the background so you can dance and get those special moments captured on camera.
Remember these photos are not just for content and posting, they are your moments from your wedding day that you will look back on for forever. With a little prep and the perfect robe, your bridal morning photoshoot will be pure magic!
